Theresa Kalmer

Theresa Kalmer (born March 21, 1991 in Munich ) is a German politician . From 2013 to 2015 she was the spokesperson for the Green Youth , the youth organization of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen .

Life

Kalmer grew up in Munich and Kornwestheim . She graduated from the Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium in Marbach (Neckar). There she attended the “International Fellowship Class”. After graduating from high school, Kalmer completed a voluntary social year . She is currently studying philosophy and political science at the University of Halle (Saale).

Kalmer has been a member of the Green Youth since 2007. In April 2011 she was elected as an assessor to the federal board of the Green Youth. On November 2, 2013 she was elected spokeswoman for the Federal Association of Green Youth at the 41st Federal Congress of Green Youth in Gelsenkirchen. The re-election took place at the 43rd Federal Congress in Dresden in October 2014, again with no opposition. Kalmer is a member of the BUND . Her main topics are ecology , European politics and queer politics .

Kalmer is an opponent of the free trade agreement between the US and the EU ( TTIP ). At the European Green Party in February 2014, the Green Youth demanded that the Greens reject the agreement. The Green Youth could not enforce the stop position, but managed to tighten the position.

At the federal party conference of the Greens in Hamburg in November 2014, Kalmer criticized Winfried Kretschmann for the asylum compromise. In the decision to declare three Balkan states safe countries of origin , “red lines” were clearly exceeded. She described the decision as a "historic break in green refugee policy"

In the 45/2015 edition of Spiegel, Kalmer called for the ruling Lord Mayor of Tübingen, Boris Palmer, to be excluded from the Green Party, because in connection with the refugee crisis he had made demands for a quota of refugees and a European border security force.
