The honorary badge of the State Fire Brigade Association Berlin (LFV Berlin) was donated by the board of the State Association of Voluntary Fire Brigades Berlin eV on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Association of Fire Brigade Associations of East and West Berlin . The honorary badge was first awarded in October 2001. In 2014, when it was renamed the Landesfeuerwehrverband Berlin eV , the honorary badge was expanded to include the bronze level.

Foundation purpose

The honorary badge is awarded by the chairman of the state fire brigade association for special merits in the fire service and can be worn as a sign of general recognition in the form of a fire brigade badge of honor.

The award of the honorary mark took place in four stages, which are:

  • 1st stage: Decoration of honor in bronze (on ribbon)
  • 2nd level: Decoration of honor in silver (on ribbon)
  • 3rd level: badge of honor in gold (as a cross )
  • 4th level: Special level of the badge of honor (as a plug-in cross)

The special level is awarded for excellent performance in fire extinguishing and only on the proposal of the chairperson. There are only a maximum of 20 winners of this award.

Appearance, texture and way of wearing

The badge of honor of the LFV Berlin is a cross with flames or with flames running diagonally to the cross. On the front of the cross, the state coat of arms of Berlin is placed in the middle , with a background in Berlin blue . It rests on the fire brigade symbol Rescue-Extinguishing-Rescue-Protect .

  • The fire brigade decorations are to be worn in the middle on the left upper chest side of the service suit at the same height next to each other. The fire brigade decorations are only worn at the highest level awarded. The badges of honor as a plug-in cross should be worn as an original award.
  • The ribbon buckle of the fire brigade decoration bears the association signet of the LFV Berlin in the respective color bronze / silver / gold, in the middle on a red-white-red ribbon. The ribbon buckle for the badge of honor is to be worn over the left breast pocket of the uniform for the uniform jacket, but not together with the fire brigade badge of honor.

Award

A maximum of 10 awards can be given each year. The members of the board can apply for five further levels.

Proposal authorization

The right to propose the award of the honorary badge is incumbent on the board of the state fire brigade association, as well as the state commissioner and the fire chiefs of the volunteer fire brigades in Berlin. The submitted proposals are to be forwarded to the office of the State Fire Brigade Association.

Award practice

All award winners receive a certificate with the signature of the chairman of the state fire brigade association when they receive the award. The presentation is made by the chairman of the state fire brigade association or one of the members of the board. When it is awarded, the honorary mark itself becomes the property of the recipient. In the event of his death, it will be kept as a souvenir for his loved ones. There is no obligation to return.

Others

The fire brigade association of Berlin bears the costs of the fire brigade decoration as well as the ownership deeds.
