Leviathan is an American horror / science fiction film from 1989. Directed by George Pan Cosmatos .
action
About three miles deep in the Atlantic Ocean , the Tri Oceanic Mining Corporation operates a mining station called Shack 7 to extract silver and other precious metals from the ocean floor. The crew consists of six men (Steven Beck, Dr. Glen Thompson, Justin Jones, GP Cobb, Tony “DeJesus” Rodero, Buzz “Sixpack” Parrish) and two women (Elizabeth “Willie” Williams, Bridget Bowman), the geologist Beck runs the station. During an unplanned incident while on a field mission, Willie and Sixpack discover a sunken Soviet freighter named Leviathan . Sixpack finds a safe on board and brings it to Shack 7 . In addition to documents and video material that indicate a catastrophe on board the ship, Sixpack finds a flask with vodka , which he later secretly drinks with Bowman. Soon the skin of six pack begins to change, under the eyes of Dr. Thompson dies sixpack eight hours later. Bowman is also getting worse and worse when she can no longer cope with her situation, she commits suicide. Dr. Thompson finds out that the crew of the Soviet freighter was involuntarily misused for genetic tests, the triggering substance they drank like Sixpack and Bowman along with the vodka. In the meantime, the bodies of Sixpack and Bowman have mutated and come to life again. With the last of their strength, the mutants can be transported through a lock into the ocean, but a part of a tentacle remains on board Shack 7 . This piece takes on a life of its own and attacks DeJesus first, then Cobb and then Dr. Thompson. He previously wanted to prevent the mutation from spreading by sabotaging the station's escape pods. Meanwhile, the station threatens to implode due to a drop in pressure. The three survivors finally manage to get to the surface of the water in their diving suits . While Jones falls victim to the monster that has also come to the surface, Beck finally kills the creepy enemy with an explosive charge and is then rescued by the coast guard together with Willie.
