Michael Bloss (born November 6, 1986 in Stuttgart ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). From 2013 to 2015 he was the spokesman for the Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG). In May 2019 he was elected to the European Parliament .

Life

Michael Bloss grew up in Stuttgart-Feuerbach . After graduating from the Uhlandshöhe Free Waldorf School in Stuttgart, Bloss completed his community service at the Baobab Children Foundation in Ghana. From 2008 to 2011 he studied international relations at the Technical University of Dresden , after which he completed a master's degree in globalization and development at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. In between he spent a semester abroad at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and at the University of Vienna .

He worked as a consultant for the United Nations Development Group and was political advisor for Ska Keller in the European Parliament from 2014 to 2018 . Until 2019 he worked in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Political commitment

Michael Bloss has been a member of the Green Youth since 2008 and is active there in various functions. From 2008 to 2010 he was coordinator of the specialist forum Europe and Global and from 2009 to 2010 a member of the self-image commission. From 2013 to 2015 he was the spokesman for the Federation of Young European Greens . At Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , Bloss was among other things a delegate of the Baden-Württemberg State Association to the State Council and spokesman for the Federal Working Group on Peace & International Affairs.

In November 2018, Bloss was elected to 14th place on the nationwide list of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen for the 2019 European elections. He won a mandate in the European elections and has since been a member of the European Parliament as part of the Greens / EFA group. For his group he is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety .
