The Lithuanian Police Anti-Terrorism Task Force "Aras" (Lithuanian: Lietuvos policijos antiteroristinių operacijų rinktinė "Aras" ) is a separate special unit of the Lithuanian police , established in 1991. Initially, the main purpose of ARAS was to fight organized crime and bandits - To suppress groups operating in Lithuania . In addition, she is active in riot suppression, peacekeeping and accompaniment. In December 2004 the unit was registered to the Atlas network of special anti-terror police units of the countries of the European Union.
