Association of Westphalian Entomologists

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Westfälischer Entomologen e. V. was founded in Bielefeld in 1965 as a working group of East Westphalian-Lippe entomologists and is based in the city's natural history museum . Some members of the AG perform biological studies on the Westphalian and German insects - fauna through. Furthermore, the working group looks after and processes the insect collections of the Natural History Museum.

Federal Entomology Committee at NABU

Werner Schulze, chairman of the working group, also chairs the BFA Entomology in the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU). The Federal Technical Committee is an important communication body for the cooperation between scientifically working entomologists and practical nature conservation. Specialist conferences and the BFA newsletter provide information on current topics in entomology. The BFA Entomology is also the publisher of the specialist journal INSECTA .

The working group is the publisher of three specialist journals:

  • Communications from the Association of Westphalian Entomologists ( ISSN  1619-7836 )
Until 2002, the journal was run under the name Mitteilungen of the Working Group of East Westphalian-Lippe Entomologists .
  • Attachments to the communications of the Association of Westphalian Entomologists
  • Bembix ( ISSN  0946-6193 )
Bembix was developed by the hymenopterists Dr. Christian Schmid-Egger and Heinrich Wolf founded and published by the Association of Westphalian Entomologists. The first two issues appeared as a circular for all friends of the Aculeates (from issue No. 2 "Akuleates") Hymenoptera in Karlsruhe - from issue No. 3 as Bembix, published in Bielefeld.
