Working group for company training research

The Working Group on Company Further Education Research (ABWF) e. V. is an interdisciplinary association of scientists. The purpose of the association is to maintain and intensify research in the field of professional competence development. This includes in particular questions of in-company training, personnel and organizational development and learning in the work process. The purpose of the statutes is achieved in particular by promoting scientific dialogue, carrying out research projects, workshops and conferences, issuing publications, press work, etc.

The association was initiated in 1992 in order to provide qualitative support for the process of adapting professional qualification structures after reunification in the new federal states. The initiators of the association were Johannes Sauer and John Erpenbeck . The aim of the association was initially to develop scientific concepts for the requirements for competence development. The BMBF-Project "Qualification Development Management" (QUEM) was carried out by the ABWF. From 1996 to the end of 2000, QUEM coordinated and accompanied the programs "Competence Development for Economic Change - Structural Changes in Company Further Education" and "Learning in the Social Environment". From 2001 to 2006 the research and development program "Lernkultur Kompetenzentwicklung", which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and by the European Social Fund, formed the basis for extensive research and design tasks. The results of the project work were presented in the QUEM bulletin, in the QUEM report, edition QUEM and competence development series, as well as in the practical handouts and the QUEM materials.

The association is based in Berlin . The chairman is Martin Elbe ( H: G Berlin ).
