Martin Elbe

Martin Elbe (* 1965 ) is a German economist and sociologist . He was initially a professor in Erding and Berlin, since 2016 he has been working at the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr in Potsdam.

Life

Elbe completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at Siemens AG in Munich from 1983 to 1986 and worked briefly in this area. He then went to the Bundeswehr as an officer candidate , where he stayed until 1997.

He studied economics and organizational sciences ( Diplom-Kaufmann 1994) at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich and sociology (Diplom-Sociologist 1999) and psychology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich . From 1999 to 2001 he was a research assistant with Rainer Marr at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and in 2001 he started with Sonja A. Sackmann with the dissertation Knowledge and Method. Basics of understanding organizational science for Dr. rer. pole. PhD. Rainer Marr carried out the second report.

In 2000 he was head of the certification body for personnel at the TÜV Süd Academy in Munich. From 2001 to 2005 he was a research associate with the organizational psychologist Andrea Maurer at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich. In 2005/06 he worked for MP management consultancy in Inning am Holz. In 2006 he became professor for organization and personnel management at the University of Applied Management (today: University of Applied Management - University of Applied Sciences) in Erding . Until 2015 he was professor for organization and human resource management at the University for Health and Sport and until 2016 for work and organizational psychology at the University for Media, Communication and Economics in Berlin.

Since 2016 he has been working in the research area of military sociology at the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr (ZMSBw) in Potsdam. His main research interests are personnel and work, organization, sociology and social psychology.

He is chairman (2012–2016) of the working group for further training research and the working group for the military and social sciences (since 2017) as well as a member of the German Armed Forces Association and the German Society for Sociology . He is also the initiator of the Understanding Organization and Personality Development Initiative.

Elbe is the author of numerous book and encyclopedia articles (handbook for the military and social sciences, encyclopedia of business administration, etc.) as well as articles in specialist journals ( journal for personnel research , sociology, etc.).
