Working Group for Image Printing Paper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bild Druck Papier working group was a loose association of people interested in the history of various printed products. The BildDruckPapier forum will continue its work from 2017 .

History and themes

The working group was founded in 1981 by Christa Pieske as the basis for the planned exhibition “The ABC of luxury paper” in Berlin . The initially small group of researchers and collectors quickly expanded to include experts from universities and museums, who found their common cultural and historical interests represented here. In addition to the chairmen listed below, the working group included Maurizio Gotti, Elisabetta Gulli Grigioni, Detlef Lorenz , Alberto Milano, Roger Paas, Rolf Reichardt, Dominik Wunderlin and Irene Ziehe. The international meetings formed a forum for the exchange of research results, work projects and information on the subject areas with annual meetings at different locations (previously in Germany, Italy, France, Hungary, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Poland ).

The results and further information have been recorded in text and images in annually published conference volumes since 1997. 21 conference volumes and a register volume have been published by Waxmann Verlag , Münster.

In 2017 the working group ceased its activities. The BildDruckPapier forum, founded in the same year, will continue its work with a thematically similar focus. Until the end of 2018, the office was located in the art collections of the Veste Coburg / Kupferstichkabinett. From 2019 it will be at the Dresden City Museum .

Topics of the forum are collective imagery (upside-down world, age, gender struggle, etc.), mass-produced print products ( picture sheets , leaflets , school blackboards, etc.) and luxury papers ( devotional pictures , congratulatory tickets, cotillon items, etc.). The forum addresses private collectors, museum curators and researchers without the need for formal membership .
