Working group for the recording, indexing and preservation of historical book bindings ( AEB ) is the name of an association of binding researchers founded in Leipzig in 1996 as the “German working group for the recording and development of historical book bindings” . Since the preservation of books was also discussed, the name of the working group was expanded to include the term “preservation”.

“The AEB strives for cooperation with people and institutions that deal with book covers and maintains international contacts. He sees himself as a contact point for all questions in connection with the recording and determination of historical and artistic book covers. Industrial book production is also taken into account.
