Syke Arboretum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Arboretum Syke is an approximately two hectare large, freely accessible arboretum in Syke in the Lower Saxony district of Diepholz .

It is located between the Syker Friedeholz and the Barrien district behind a furniture store. In 2018, there were almost 190 trees of different, but largely native, species on the site between the B 6 and the “Südfeld” road. Both the German and the botanical name of the tree are on the labels . The tree park is currently still referred to as the "Bürgerpark".

history

The first section of the tree park was created in 1999. It is a compensation area on the Südfeld road, which serves to compensate for nature and the landscape. It was necessary because a large commercial enterprise had been built on the B6.

A few years later, the compensation area was expanded as more businesses were added on the B6.

In 2013 the first 50 trees in the Bürgerwald (tree park) were planted, sponsored by the Syker bookstore Schüttert on the occasion of a company anniversary.

In 2014 another 19 trees were added from various sponsors. In the meantime (2018) there are a total of 186 trees.
