Maifeld Archaeological Museum
The Maifeld Archaeological Museum is a regional museum in Münstermaifeld in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Mayen-Koblenz .
The museum, financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Continuing Education and Culture of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and other regional sponsors, is housed in the vaulted cellar of the old Propstei II.
The focus of the exhibition are finds from a Franconian burial ground, which was uncovered during extensive excavation work in the years 2009-2010 by the archaeologists of the General Directorate for Cultural Heritage of Rhineland-Palatinate , Koblenz branch. In addition, exhibits up to the Stone Age, which underline the historical importance of the entire Maifeld , are on display.
The museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday from April to the beginning of November (at the same time as the tourist information office is open). Open to groups outside of these times on request. The operator is the Maifeld Association .
