Architecture Prize Future Living

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Zukunft Wohnen architecture prize was a German architecture prize . It was advertised nine times from 1994, the last time in 2012.

history

At the beginning of the 1990s, the aim of the foundation of the architecture prize Zukunft Wohnen by the German cement manufacturers was to demand a high-quality finish for the upcoming construction projects in residential construction . The Fachvereinigung Deutscher precast concrete construction e. V. followed this initiative by donating a special prize for the exemplary use of precast concrete parts. Despite the housing shortage prevailing at the time , the new apartments should not only be inexpensive, but also sophisticated in their architectural quality.

These topics dominated the two-day “Future Living” congress initiated in Cologne in 1994 by the German cement manufacturers. Over 850 participants and speakers from all areas of the construction industry . Architects , town planners , engineers , sociologists , publicists and politicians discussed current issues in housing construction. Since then, ways and means of inexpensive, yet high-quality housing construction have been and are being discussed nationwide in numerous events of the “Forum Zukunft Bauen”.

The award of the architecture prize Zukunft Wohnen, endowed with 25,000 euros, was intended to draw the attention of a wider public to the future-oriented tasks in residential construction. Changes in the population structure , regionally differentiated urban development requirements, new demands of residents on the apartment, energy requirements and the need to develop and implement sustainable projects are examples of this. Every construction project has to deal with these and other questions individually and intensively. Exemplary action in this area should be recognized with the architecture prize Zukunft Wohnen.

The Future Living Architecture Prize was awarded in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2009. The last award followed in 2012 by the German cement and concrete industry in cooperation with the Federation of German Builders, Architects and Engineers (BDB); the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development took over the patronage. The architecture prize Zukunft Wohnen 2012 was endowed with a total of 24,000 euros.
