The Arctowski Dome ( Polish : Kopuła Arctowskiego ) is the largest ice dome on King George Island in the South Shetland Islands . It extends from the Fildes Peninsula to Sherratt Bay .
A Polish Antarctic expedition named him in 1980 after the Polish meteorologist Henryk Arctowski (1871-1958), participant in the Belgica expedition (1897-1899) led by the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery . The original name as Arctowski Ice Field was changed in 2004 by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names .
