Ardaris is a genus of butterflies in the Hesperiidae family . It includes two endemic species that are native to the Cordillera de Mérida in Venezuela .

features

The two species of the genus ardaris of which ardaris hantra long for a subspecies of ardaris eximia was held, are of the wing drawing very similar to her. On the dark brown forewings they have a series of white spots that extend almost parallel from the wing tip from the outer edge to the middle of the inner edge of the wing. Another white spot is on the front wing discoid loader. The hind wings are dark brown with orange spots on top, the orange part predominates underneath. Similar to the row of white spots on the forewings, a dark brown band runs through the orange areas on the hind wings, also parallel to the outer edge, up to the middle of the inner wing edge. The genus is hardly to be confused with other genera of the Hesperiidae, there are only similarities to the genera Mimardaris and Metardaris .
