Are Storstein (* 1951 , probably in Norway ; † December 26, 2004 at Berg Khao Lak , Thailand ) was a Norwegian film and theater actor , screenwriter, film director as well as musician and singer of the Norwegian rock group Boastein .

Life

Are Storstein was born in 1951. In 1974 he made his debut as a stage actor. He played on a Norwegian theater, the play Equus by Peter Shaffer in the title role. Storstein became known in the coming years for his theater roles. He played in many productions such as Red Ryder , Hamlet and Piaf .

In 1977 and 1980 Are Storstein and Øistein Boassen released two records with their rock band Boastein , Jeg har min egen luke (translated: I have my own door ) and Urgata Hurgata .

Front of the camera he was probably the first time in 1978, namely the Norwegian feature film X . In 1978 he played a supporting role in the drama that won several film awards. He then played one of the main roles in the Norwegian crime film Henrys bakværelse (translated: Henrys back room ) from 1982. Also in 1982 he directed his short film: Ordentlige kunstnere bruker ikke svart (translated: Real artists don't use black ), about the Norwegian painter Jan Groth . Storstein's daughter Silje Storstein was born in 1984 . In the Norwegian crime film Operation Cobra from 1986, which was also shown in Finland and Italy, he played a supporting role again. In addition to these activities, Storstein also worked on several projects for the Norwegian National Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) .

At the age of 14 his daughter Silje applied for the main and title role in the film Sofie's World (1999). She got the role and became known with it, also beyond the borders of Norway.

Are Storstein died on December 26, 2004 in Khao Lak, Thailand, from a tsunami as a result of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake .
