Arend Vollers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl Wilhelm Arend Vollers (born May 8, 1931 in Bremen ) is a Bremen tea merchant and is considered one of the most experienced tea connoisseurs in Germany. Vollers lives in Syke . Vollers managed the Bremen tea trading company Paul Schrader & Co. for over 50 years .

On April 24, 1961, the partner of the company Theodor Tiemann, who had driven the expansion of the company until his death and put it on an economically sound basis, died. In January 1962, Karl Wilhelm Arend Vollers succeeded him. Even then, in Bremen society and also among tea connoisseurs, he was referred to as the German tea pope. Vollers introduced an initially 16-page brochure that was later referred to as the company's first catalog. From 1982 onwards, under Arendt, the company also increasingly offered jewelry, furniture and books. In contrast to universal mail order companies such as Quelle, Otto and neckermann.de, however, the focus was always on tea as a product group. Since then, on Voller's initiative, the catalogs have included not only the products but also cultural information about the countries of origin of the teas and instructions for use for tea preparation. In 2005, today's managing director Michael Rolf succeeded Arend Vollers.

According to Vollers, he drinks 10–12 cups of tea a day and often explains in public z. B. the subtleties of a Darjeeling tea.
