Argelander is an impact crater on the front of the moon , east of Mare Nubium , north of Airy crater and south of Vogel . The crater is very badly eroded, especially in the south and west.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm August Argelander .
