Ariabignes

Ariabignes ( Greek  Ἀριαβίγνης ; * before 522 BC; † 480 BC at Salamis ) was a member of the Persian Achaemenid dynasty in the 5th century BC. He was the youngest of the three sons of the great king Dareios I from his first marriage to a daughter of Gobryas . His full brothers were Artobazanes and Ariamenes .

During the invasion of Greece by Xerxes I in 480 BC. Ariabignes commanded the Ionian and Carian squadrons of the Persian fleet. Like his brother Ariamenes, he was killed in the sea ​​battle of Salamis .
