Ariadne Foundation

The Ariadne Foundation is a non-profit organization in the form of a foundation of the EU and Switzerland that participates in the standardization of knowledge exchange and reuse. The goals are u. a.

  • Improving basic and applied research on the creation, sharing and reuse of knowledge through technology
  • Development and provision of methods and software for flexible, effective and efficient access to large knowledge databases

This includes working on the SCORM standard. Ariadne is a member of the Global Learning Objects Brokering Exchange Alliance (GLOBE).

The foundation is based in Leuven , Belgium . There are two forms of institutional membership: ARIADNE centers (currently 6) and “affiliate” members (associated members, currently 4). 8 major projects are currently being pursued. Funding of projects that serve the goals of the Foundation is possible. The submission of corresponding projects is called annually.
