Ariel Publishing House

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ariel publishing house is a German publisher based in Riedstadt . It was founded in 1993 during the Mainz mini press fair by Oliver Bopp, who had already been the editor of the underground literature newspaper Cocksucker (20 issues, 1992-2003) a year earlier . During this time there was great creative potential in young, wild poets whose collective literary Sturm und Drang era was later given a name: Social Beat . Ariel-Verlag advanced to become the publishing mouthpiece of this movement, with anthologies (Downtown Germany, Asphalt Beat) and individual publications appearing. In the course of this, the association with the Essen Isabel-Rox-Verlag took place.

Around the end of the 1990s, the voice of the " social beat " scene largely fell silent . From then on, the publishing house devoted itself to a. the poetry slam movement. The most successful slam participant Jaromir Konecny developed into the most important publishing author. The performance poet Tracy Splinter (National Slam winner 1999) has released her CD "Verbalize" with Ariel.
