Parts of the Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue nature reserve and the Riedsee near Leeheim are part of the urban area.

Neighboring communities

Riedstadt borders in the north on the municipality of Trebur and the city of Groß-Gerau , in the east on the cities of Griesheim and Pfungstadt (both districts of Darmstadt-Dieburg ), in the south on the city of Gernsheim and the municipalities of Biebesheim and Stockstadt , and in the west on the municipalities Ludwigshöhe and Dienheim , as well as the city of Oppenheim (all three in the Mainz-Bingen district ).

City structure

Riedstadt consists of the centrally located district of Goddelau and the districts of Crumstadt in the south, Erfelden in the west, Leeheim in the northwest and Wolfskehlen in the north. Local districts were not formed. Local districts according to the Hessian municipal code were not established.

On January 17, 2007, the Hessian Ministry of the Interior granted Riedstadt city rights as the last municipality in Hesse with over 20,000 inhabitants.
