Gerald Kummer (born August 22, 1958 in Darmstadt ) is a German politician of the SPD Hessen . He is a member of the Hessian state parliament in the 19th and 20th electoral terms.

Life

Gerald Kummer graduated from the Rotenburg University of Applied Sciences with a degree in finance . From 1978 he worked at the tax office in Darmstadt. In 1990 he moved to the Hessian Audit Office and later to the Hessische Elektrizitäts-AG .

He is married and has two children.

Gerald Kummer is a member of the SPD. Since 1985 he has been a member of the Riedstadt municipal council . Here he was elected mayor in 1993. He held the office for 17 years until he took over the office as a full-time district member of the Groß-Gerau district in 2010 .

Since 2001 member of the regional assembly South Hesse

In the 2013 election to the Hessian state parliament, he ran as a direct candidate in the Groß-Gerau II constituency (constituency 48). Here he lost to Günter Schork . However, Gerald Kummer received a mandate in the Hessian state parliament via a list. This ended his activity as the first member of the district.

In the state elections in 2018 , Kummer ran again as a direct candidate for the SPD, but was narrowly defeated in the constituency of Ines Claus (CDU). However, Kummer moved into the Hessian state parliament again via the state list.

Gerald Kummer is the legal policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and a member of the European policy committee in the 20th Hessian state parliament. Furthermore, Kummer has been a member of the regional assembly in South Hesse since 2001.
