Günter Schork (born October 28, 1955 in Hartenrod ; † March 8, 2016 ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1974, Günter Schork was a regular soldier with the paratroopers of the Bundeswehr from July 1, 1974 to June 30, 1986 , most recently as a company commander. During this time Schork studied economics and organizational sciences from 1975 to 1978 at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg with a degree in business administration. From 1986 he worked in various functions at various banks, most recently from 2002 to 2006 as head of the market division at Volksbank Groß-Gerau.

Political career

Schork joined the Junge Union in 1973 . He had been a member of the CDU since 1974, had been a member of the district executive committee of the CDU Groß-Gerau since 1994 and was deputy district chairman from 1998 to 2002. From May 1991 to November 2007 Schork was a member of the town council of Riedstadt . During this time he held the post of chairman of the CDU parliamentary group from April 1993 to November 2007. Since April 2001 he belonged for his party to the district council of the Groß-Gerau district . Since 2003 he has acted as chairman of the local parliamentary group of the CDU.

From December 9, 2005 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament as the successor to Rudolf Haselbach . There he was a member of the Committee for Economics and Transport, the Cultural Policy Committee, the Petitions Committee, the Inquiry Committee 16/2, the Inquiry Committee 16/3 and the Hardship Commission at the Hessian Minister of the Interior and for Sport. In the state elections in Hesse in 2008 , he lost his constituency Groß-Gerau II and did not move into the new state parliament via the state list. Schork left the state parliament on April 4, 2008.

After leaving the Hessian state parliament, he founded the political and management consultancy Schork Consult GmbH in May 2008 . In the January 2009 election, Schork won the direct mandate in the Groß-Gerau II constituency and was again a member of the Hessian state parliament from January 30, 2009. He was now on the Budget Committee, the Committee on Economics and Transport, the Cultural Policy Committee and the Subcommittee on Financial Controlling and Administrative Control. Since September 2012 he has been the education policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group.

He lived in Mörfelden-Walldorf , was married and the father of four children.

Günter Schork died in March 2016 at the age of 60 as a result of a heart attack .
