Aristodemus (painter)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aristodemos ( ancient Greek Ἀριστόδημος ) was a Greek painter and writer from Caria who was active around 200 AD.

For more than four years he was the guest of Flavius Philostratos , who reported about him in the Proömium to the adults . His painting was similar to that of Eumelos , but it seemed calmer. In terms of writing, he dealt with the biographies of artists as well as with the cities and rulers who appeared as patrons of artists.

Since Eumelos was respected enough to be able to exhibit his works in the Roman Forum , he was possibly a teacher of Aristodemus.
