Aristocles (Attic sculptor)
Aristocles ( Greek Άριστοκλῆς ) was a Greek sculptor who worked in the Archaic period .
Aristocles was active in Athens . His signature is on the surviving base of a grave statue of Kariers Tymnes, son of a Skylax who died in Athens and was buried there. The statue has not been preserved. The preserved base was apparently already used for the construction of the Themistocelic city wall, and later for the construction of the southeast tower of the Dipylon . An identification with one of the other sculptors of the same name working in Attica from the archaic period cannot be proven.
