Aristocles from Rhodes
Aristocles from Rhodes ( Greek Άριστοκλῆς Aristoklḗs ) was an ancient Greek orator and grammarian. He lived in the second half of the 1st century BC. Chr.
Aristocles devoted himself in his writings to the interpretation of the works of Hippocrates of Kos , Pindar and Plato . He wrote writings on grammatical problems. He also wrote a treatise Περί ποιητικῆς . These writings were ascribed directly to Aristocles of Rhodes . It is also unclear whether further fragments of indefinite grammarians with the name Aristocles can be ascribed to him. An equation with the music scholar of the same name Aristocles from the end of the 2nd century BC. Chr. Can however be excluded.
