Arkadi Samoilowitsch Sheikhet

Arkadi Samoilowitsch Shaichet , Russian Аркадий Самойлович Шайхет (* 1898 in Nikolajew ; † November 18, 1959 in Moscow ) was a Soviet photographer.

Life

Sheikhet was a retoucher in a Moscow portrait studio from 1922 , and from 1924 a photo reporter for the magazine Ogonyok . In 1928 he received the first official award. In the 1930s he worked as a photojournalist for USSR in construction . In 1931 he created the photo report 24 hours in the life of the Filippow family (together with Max Alpert , Lev Mescheritschew and Solomon Tules ).

During the German-Soviet War Arkady Sheikhet was the front correspondent for Frontowaja illjustrazia . He took over 10,000 war photographs and was awarded the Order of the Great Patriotic War .
