Arkady Podolskyi

Arkadij Podolskyj (alternative spelling Arkady Podolsky ; born May 24, 1945 in Kiev ) is a Ukrainian chess player . In 1981 he became European champion in correspondence chess .

Podolskyj only plays correspondence chess. He played his first long-distance games in 1971 in a match between Ukraine and Finland: he won against Ketola with white and lost with black. In 1973 he qualified for participation in the 17th European Championship by taking first place in a major European tournament. He won this in 1981 (ahead of Sadowoi (SU) and Kühnrich (GDR)).

He still took part in the 13th USSR championship in 1977/78 as well as in the 22nd European championship in 1980/86 and in the 31st European championship in 1985/92 (10th place).

Since 1994 he has held the title of International Correspondence Chess Master .

Podolskyj is a radio engineer by profession.
