The Arkenberger Baggersee (also called Arkenberge bathing lake or Arkenberger Kiessee ) is located in the north of the Berlin district of Pankow in the Arkenberge area , close to the Berlin city limits.

Emergence

The lake was created in 1979. The name comes from the nearby Arken Mountains . In previous years, building material had been taken from a gravel pit for the expansion of the nearby motorway, today's A 114 .

Use & management

The Berlin State Anglers' Association manages the lake under fishing law.

Due to new EU directives on water purity, a general bathing ban was pronounced for the lake in 2004.

Inflows and outflows

Typically for quarry ponds, there is no inflow or outflow.
