Arctic brown earth

Arctic brown earth is the typical soil of the tundra in the subpolar climate zone of the earth.

It is deep, permeable and slightly browned , mostly of low thickness but with a closed humus cover. Arctic brown earth develops on hilltops , back and ramparts of gravels and sands . Your subsoil is rich in bases , but the topsoil can be depleted due to the washing out of easily soluble substances.
