Arlindo Barbeitos

Arlindo Barbeitos (born December 24, 1940 in Catete , municipality Ícolo e Bengo ) is an Angolan writer and historian.

In 1961 he went into exile for political reasons and stayed in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Germany, where he studied anthropology and sociology at the University of Frankfurt am Main . He specialized in ethnology and became an assistant at the Free University of Berlin and in 1975 after his return to Angola at the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Lubango. He later received his doctorate in history in Paris and is now a professor at the Universidade Católica de Angola in Luanda. In his poetry there are reminiscences of traditional African poetics , oral tradition as well as Chinese and Japanese poetry .
