Ícolo e Bengo is a district in Angola , in the center of the province of Luanda, east of the capital Luanda .

Ícolo e Bengo is a district ( Município ) in the province of Luanda . Until 2011 it belonged to the province of Bengo . The district covers 3819 square kilometers and has around 75,000 inhabitants (2014 census). The capital of the district is Catete .

The district is bounded in the north by Dande , in the east by Cambambe , in the south by Quiçama , and in the west it is bordered by the districts of Viana and Cacuaco .

Five municipalities (Comunas) make up the Ícolo e Bengo district;

economy

The municipality of Ícolo e Bengo has large industrial parks on the outskirts of Luanda , with factories for soft drinks (Coca-Cola), beer, mineral water, dried beef, tomato paste and ceramics. These are industries that are developing slowly and are intended to make Angola independent of imports in the long term.

Sons and daughters of the circle

The most famous son is Agostinho Neto (1922–1979), national hero, state founder and first president of Angola.
