Arminka Helic, Baroness Helic

Arminka Helic, Baroness Helic (born April 20, 1968 in the Bosnian part of Yugoslavia ) is a British politician.

She fled the war in what was then Yugoslavia to the United Kingdom in the 1990s and was later naturalized there.

She served as Special Adviser and Chief of Staff to former British Foreign Secretary William Hague . Since 2012 she has acted, alongside Chloé Dalton, as an advisor to Angelina Jolie in her humanitarian work, in particular the fight against sexual violence. It is particularly important to Helic to ban rape as a weapon of war and to help the victims.

She was promoted to Life Peer on September 18, 2014 with the title Baroness Helic , of Millbank in the City of Westminster , making her the third Muslim MP of the Conservative Party . She received her introduction to the House of Lords on November 24, 2014,

Helic was elected to the board of the Trust Fund for Victims under the auspices of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court in The Hague in 2015.
