Arnaud Courlet de Vregille (born March 5, 1958 in Bourges ) is a French painter.

Life

Born into a family of painters related to Otto van Veen (masters of Rubens ), Arnaud Courlet de Vregille began drawing at an early age, and then began his career as a painter: paintings, wall paintings (frescoes) and theater decorations. His painting talent was recognized in 1993 when he was awarded a prize by the Institut Supérieur de Paris for his work of art “Laisse-moi”, a work of art acquired by the Ministry of Finance and used as decoration for the Cité Administrative de Bobigny. The painter currently lives in Besançon (Doubs).

Who's Who Art regards his art as a “lyrical abstraction”, “futurism”, “spontaneous painting”. In 2004 the Encyclopédie des Arts de Franche-Comté dedicated a reference article to him:

“Painter who cannot be assigned to a fixed category, who explores the depths of abstract art in order to bring the simplicity of the pictorial / figurative to the surface. His paintings, which seem to emerge from a kind of colored skin, express the warmth of the tortured reality. In the words of the artist, he paints his canvases both impulsively and after a period of mixing and condensing that is the result of a long internal preparation. He marks some of his works of art with an often hidden circle of loneliness, the collapse of which provokes the moment when reality breaks up and disperses to make way for the invisible and to reveal the puzzling conspicuousness of the visible. The emotion that pervades his painting seems to arise from its movement, its violence, its light. "

On the occasion of the exhibition on the 200th year of death of Claude-Nicolas Ledoux (famous French architect of the 18th century) in the royal saltworks in Arc-et-Senans , France-Comté (website listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco), the catalog Le deuxième regard wrote: “ The painting by Courlet de Vregille has an almost natural relationship with the inspiration of Ledoux; indeed, both explore what Bachelard calls materialized imagination, the spiritual place where all art forms converge and meet ”. “Based on a very contemporary trend, an expression of the point of view of one art on another, which here takes up again in an independent vision the wonder of the new discovery”, a portrait of the Lumière brothers: “Lumière ou Projection privée” (light or private Projection) exhibited in L'EdenThéâtre de La Ciotat. L'EdenThéâtre, heritage label of the 20th century, was restored in 2013 as part of the Marseille-Provence 2013, European Capital of Culture.
