Arndís Halla

Arndís Halla Ásgeirsdóttir (born December 9, 1969 ) is an Icelandic opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Arndis Halla grew up near Reykjavík and took part in performances at the Icelandic National Theater as a teenager . In 1994 she went to Berlin to study classical singing at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin . Afterwards she was engaged as a soloist on a wide variety of opera stages, including the Komische Oper Berlin , the State Opera in Prague and the Beseto Opera in South Korea.

She made a name for herself internationally in the role of Queen of the Night in Mozart's Magic Flute . In 2007 Arndis Halla opened the Venice Film Festival . At the Icelandic Opera, she sang the role of Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos and was nominated as the best singer in the country. Then she made a guest appearance with the title role in Evita . From 2004 she appeared as the main singer of the largest family entertainment show in Europe, Apassionata , until 2012 she sang live here in front of over five million viewers.

Arndis Halla has been living in Iceland again since 2012 , where she works as a singer and songwriter.

In 2014 SWR hired her for the 45-minute documentary Iceland - Fire in the Heart. She also arranged songs for the medieval band Corvus Corax and gave these songs her voice. In December 2014 she released her fourth album Ístónar , previously her albums Keep on Walking , Óður and Eda were released.

On February 5, 2016, Arndís Halla released the studio album Álfadans (in German: Elfentanz) with several Icelandic artists under the name Íslanda .
