The Arnhold-mouse lemurs ( Microcebus arnholdi ) is an on Madagascar living primate species from the kind of mouse lemurs within the group of lemurs . The species, which was only described in 2008 , is only known from the Montagne d'Ambre National Park and the Forêt d'Ambre nature reserve on the northern tip of Madagascar, northwest of the Irodo River.

The Arnhold mouse lemur is a medium-sized mouse lemur and reaches an average head-to-trunk length of 12.5 cm with a tail length of 10.6 to 13.6 cm and an average weight of 45 g. The back fur is mixed dark brown, reddish and gray, the tail has a dark brown central stripe that starts at the base and is dark brown at the end. The peritoneum is whitish to cream-colored with a grayish undertone. The head is reddish brown, the muzzle and the region around the eyes dark brown. A white stripe extends from the bare nasal mirror to between the eyes.

Way of life

The Arnhold-Mausmaki lives in the mountain rainforest . The exact way of life of the species has not yet been researched. Like other mouse lemurs, it will be nocturnal and feed primarily on insects and fruits. Because of its small distribution area, it is considered endangered by the IUCN .
