Germán Carty (born July 16, 1968 in San Vicente de Cañete ) is a Peruvian football player . Carty is best known for his time at CS Cienciano , with whom he won the Copa Sudamericana in 2003 . Carty had a large share in this success with six goals scored, with his goals he was also the top scorer in this competition. At the moment, at 46 years of age, he is also one of the oldest active professional footballers .
Career

Carty began his career in 1992 with Sport Boys , where he had previously played in their youth. He moved to CS Cienciano in 2002 through various intermediate positions in Peru and Mexico .
The time at CS Cienciano
In Cienciano Carty had the most successful period of his career in 124 league games he scored 34 goals and won in 2003 the Copa Sudamericana with his club. After defeating FC Santos 3-2 in the quarterfinals and the Colombian club Atlético Nacional 3-1 in the semifinals, they won the final against the Argentinian record champions CA River Plate ; after the first leg ended 3: 3 (Carty scored the 2: 2), Cienciano won the second leg 1: 0 and thus the cup.
Legionnaire
In 2004 Carty left Cienciano and moved to Alianza Lima , but could no longer build on his performance at Cienciano. In the following years he changed clubs several times and played at most clubs for no more than a few months. Most recently he played for the Peruvian second division club Atletico Minero .
