Arnošt Procházka

Arnošt Leopold Antonín Procházka (born November 15, 1869 in Prague ; † January 16, 1925 there ) was a Czech literary and art critic of decadence .

Life

After dropping out of law school, Procházka worked as a bank clerk in Prague. Together with Jiří Karásek ze Lvovic , he founded the literary magazine Moderní revue in 1894 and was publisher and editor. After his death, the magazine ceased operations. As a representative of decadence poetry, he strove for a subjectivist and exclusive art. Procházka translated French, German, English and Italian literature into Czech and used over 90 pseudonyms .
