Arno Camenisch (born February 1, 1978 in Danis-Tavanasa ) is a Swiss writer from Graubünden who writes in German and Romansh .

Life

Camenisch lives in Biel. In 2009 he published his novel Sez Ner , 2010 Behind the Train Station , 2012 Ustrinkata , 2013 Fred and Franz , 2014 Next Stop Desire , 2015 The Cure and 2016 The Whims of the Day . He has also published in Harper's Magazine (New York) and in the anthology Best European Fiction 2012 (USA). His texts have been translated into over 20 languages ​​and his readings have taken him across the world, from Hong Kong to Moscow and Buenos Aires to New York. Numerous awards followed, including the Hölderlin Prize, the Swiss Literature Prize, the ZKB Schiller Prize, and with his “Bündner Trilogie” he was nominated for the European Literature Prize in Holland. In March 2015, Swiss television and 3sat broadcast the documentary Arno Camenisch - Writing on the Edge .

Camenisch writes prose, poetry and plays. He became known nationwide through his award-winning book Sez Ner . In Sursilvan and German he describes life from the perspective of the alpine people. Together with the following two books, Behind the Station and Ustrinkata , it forms a complete trilogy.
