Arno Stoffels

Arno Stoffels (* 1909 in Luxembourg ; † April 20, 1976 ibid) was a Luxembourg painter .

Life

Stoffels studied art in Munich and Brussels and was a member of the cal ( cercle artistique luxembourgeois ). His specialty was figurative painting, with a preference for Luxembourg landscapes and in particular the old fortress city of Luxembourg . He took part in the Luxembourg art exhibitions and in 1965 opened his own art gallery on Avenue du X septembre in Luxembourg.

After participating in several domestic and foreign exhibitions, the city of Remich dedicated a retrospective to the painter in 1984, whose works are characterized by several creative periods and styles. His work ranged from late Art Nouveau through Impressionism and Expressionism to Modernism and this in ever new techniques.

According to Lambert Herr, who gives the estimated prices of Luxembourg painters in his work Signatures , there is an auction result from 1982 of 75,000 LUF for a 68 × 82 cm oil painting, on the basis of which he calculates a price forecast for the year 2000 of 147,000 LUF, i.e. 3,644 euros. The same source gives a 40 × 50 cm gouache drawing, sold in 1993 for 35,000 LUF, from which a price forecast for a gouache in 2000 of 52,000 LUF, i.e. 1,289 euros, results.
