Arnold's Cove is a municipality ( town ) on the island of Newfoundland, which belongs to the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador . Arnold's Cove is located on Placentia Bay , on the south coast of the isthmus to the Avalon Peninsula . In the north, the municipality borders on Come By Chance . The Trans-Canada Highway runs east of the settlement.

In 1864 only one family settled here. In 1893 there was a post office. The place was a fishing settlement two kilometers from the Newfoundland Railway, 35 miles from the Placentia junction. In 1967 he was named a city. In 1911 only 100 people lived here, but in 1976 there were already 1,160 people. Since then the population has decreased slightly. Arnold's Cove is experiencing an economic boom due to its proximity to the Hibernia Oil Platform.

Demographic data

The 2016 census revealed a population of 949 inhabitants for the municipality. Five years earlier there were 990 inhabitants.
