Arnold Hano

Arnold Hano (born March 2, 1922 in Washington Heights , New York City ) is an American author and sports journalist . He wrote about Willie Mays , Sandy Koufax , Muhammad Ali and Roberto Clemente , among others . His most famous works are the book A Day in the Bleachers and the documentation Hano! A Century in the Bleachers , filmed by director Jon Leonoudakis.

life and work

Hano graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School by 1937 and then studied at Long Island University Brooklyn Campus . In 1941 he finished his studies. From 1942 to 1946, Hano was a corporal in the 7th Infantry Division of the United States Army . He has lived in Laguna Beach , California with his wife Bonnie Hano (* 1926) since 1954 .

He is the author of 27 books and published over 500 articles, mostly in sports magazines, but also novels and westerns . In 1963, he received Magazine Sportswriter of the Year and The Sidney Hillman prize for journalism . Arnold Hano also published under the pseudonyms Matthew Gant, Ad Gordon and Mike Heller.
