A variant of the drink with alcohol, usually vodka , is called "John Daly" - named after the American golfer John Daly .

history

According to Arnold Palmer, he always mixed the drink at home, and at the 1960 US Open at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver , he often ordered it. A woman sitting nearby overheard this and thereupon ordered “that Palmer drink”, from which the name is derived.
