Arnold von Randow (mentioned in a document from 1363 to 1397) was a feudal man and Vogt of the Magdeburg archbishops . He is most likely the first direct ancestor of the von Randow family . A documentary connection has not yet been proven. Arnold is the first Randow to by the records seal with the Randow'schen crest are obtained. His date of birth is unknown; he died between 1397 and 1399. As early as 1397, he owned various fiefs to Redekin , Lassen Bellin and Grosswulkow , which not only are still owned by the Randows 100 years later, but - as far as Redekin and Bellin are concerned - until the late 18th century Century.

Life

Arnold was a well-to-do man, obviously very trustworthy. He appears in numerous documents as a witness , for the first time on May 30, 1363 as a squire and vassal of the Bishop of Havelberg , Burkhard II. (1348 to 1370). Arnold's seal with the Randow family coat of arms also hangs on this document, which is still preserved today . On February 20, 1364, he vouched for an armistice with others . A seal with the inscription "S 'ARNOLDI DE RANDOW" also hangs on this certificate - badly damaged. On October 1, 1364, Arnold testified for the Margrave of Brandenburg, Ludwig the Roman , in Tangermünde a document in which he left the proceedings against the priest Heinrich von Schmidtsdorf to the Rathenow council .

Three years later - on February 28, 1367 - Arnold is in the service of Archbishop Dietrich von Magdeburg Vogt at Plaue Castle , west of Brandenburg . These bailiffs were used instead of the previous burgraves for smaller districts in the area around the castles. They were archiepiscopal vassals and had their seat in a permanent castle. Her authority included official duties in the field of law , financial management, warfare and the police. They did not receive a salary, but had a share of the administrative and court taxes.

Another three years later - on July 19, 1370 - "Arnd Randow" is among the numerous witnesses to a contract between Count Albrecht von Lindau (from the Arnstein-Barby-Lindau-Ruppin house) and Prince Johann II. Von Anhalt . On February 3, 1382, Arnd's son, Henning von Randow , with the consent of his heirs and his wife, pledged the village of Zitz to Bishop Dietrich III for a three-year loan of 110 marks of Brandenburg silver and weight . of Brandenburg (1366 to 1393). Arnd von Randow, among others, signs as guarantor for this.

Fiefdom

In the list of Arnold's possessions in the fiefdom register of Archbishops Albrecht III. and Peter for the years 1371/82 Arnold is noted with the following fiefdoms, which he holds together with his father brother (patruus) Peter:

The village of Orte Bellin with all rights and uses, except for two leased houses; in Redekin curiam suam et IX curias villanorum ibidem ... to which 18 hooves with all rights and uses , except the fiefs of 2 hooves that the Lord of Magdeburg has, further I curiam graminis in Redekin, as well as 7 solidos of two hooves there itself ; half of the abandoned village of Lankhusen with all rights; 2  counts in Vehlen ; a wall in front of Plaue, called the Boterborch; a wispel oat in Plaue over Beckersland.
