As Arpa de dos Órdenes is double harp of the Spanish Baroque referred.

As a double harp, the instrument is strung with crossed chromatic strings , with the diatonic strings stretched vertically and the pentatonic strings diagonally. The strings are plucked at the crossing point: the musician reaches through the diatonic strings to achieve the semitones . The Arpa de dos órdenes is particularly characterized by a powerful warm bass, its construction with the voluminous resonance body and its sound are very similar to today's South American harp . The string material used was almost exclusively natural gut , and very rarely silk or metal. The number of strings in the Spanish baroque harp is about 47.

Perhaps the most important collection of pieces of music for the Spanish baroque harp is the book Luz y Norte by Lucas Ruiz de Ribayaz (1626–1677), published around 1677 in Madrid.
