Arrhidaios (General)
Arrhidaios , was one of the generals of Alexander the Great . Nothing is known about his possible participation in the Asian campaign.
After the death of Alexander in 323 BC Arrhidaios was entrusted with the transfer of the body from Babylon to the Egyptian Siwa . The funeral procession was only possible after the completion of the sarcophagus in 321 BC. To be started. In Syria, however, Attalus approached him, who, on the orders of the imperial regent Perdiccas, was to take over the corpse and lead it to Aigai in Macedonia. With the support of Ptolemy , the ruler of Egypt , he was able to avoid meeting Attalus and successfully bring the train to its destination.
After the murder of Perdiccas in 320 BC Arrhidaios and Peithon were appointed as regents at the instigation of Ptolemy. But a short time later, at the Conference of Triparadeisos , they were deposed again at the instigation of Eurydice and Antipater took over the reign. When the provinces were divided, he received the Hellespontine Phrygia . 319 BC After Antipater's death, he attempted an attack on Kyzikos , but it failed. Antigonus used this fact to dispute Arrhidaios for satrapy . Arrhidaios abdicated and retired to Kios .
