The inferior mesenteric artery and its branches.

The arteria colica media ("middle large intestinal artery ") is an artery that emerges from the upper intestinal artery ( arteria mesenterica superior or cranialis). It arises below the pancreas and divides into a right branch ( ramus dexter ) and a left branch ( ramus sinister ). The right branch anastomoses with the right colic artery , the left with the left colic artery . The nodes lymphoidei colici medii lie along the arteria colica media .

The arteria colica media supplies the transverse colon (colon transversum).
