Artfair
The Artfair ( spelling ART.FAIR) was a fair for contemporary and modern art . It took place in Cologne from 2003 to 2016 . Art.fair International GmbH has been organizing the new Art Düsseldorf trade fair in Düsseldorf since 2017 .
history
Founders and managing directors of Artfair were Walter M. Gehlen and Andreas E. Lohaus. The Artfair started at the same time as an independent side fair to Art Cologne .
The fair has been organized by art.fair International GmbH since 2003 and took place in the Expo halls on Gladbacher Wall in Cologne until 2010 . From 2011 to 2013 the fair was located in the Cologne State House . The 12th edition in 2014 with over 100 exhibiting galleries took place in the KölnMesse (Hall 1 & 2). The number of visitors has been around 35,000 over the years.
The fair took place in 2016 for the last time in the Cologne exhibition center. In November 2017, art.fair International GmbH organized the new Art Düsseldorf trade fair for the first time on the Böhler area, a former steelworks in Düsseldorf.
