Lichstedt is a district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The cluster village Lichstedt is located on a plateau west of Rudolstadt in a formed side valley of the Schaalbach, which flows towards Schaala -Rudolstadt to the Saale . The federal road 90 uses part of the valley and naturally leads in an arch from east to northwest around the village in the direction of Stadtilm to Erfurt or Arnstadt . There is forest on slopes and hills around the locality. The floors are made of weathered shell limestone . The south-sloping plateau also has climatic advantages in spring and autumn. The Schönefeld plateau closes to the westthe Sundremdaer , Ehrensteiner and Thälendorfer farmers.

history

Lichstedt was first mentioned in a document on August 16, 1275. The Chancellor of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt managed two manors that were united in the 18th century. In 1769 Christian Ulrich von Kettelhodt founded the rose festival. This tradition has been cultivated by the Lichstedtern ever since. Until 1918 the place belonged to the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

The corridor of the Groschwitz domain was incorporated into the Lichstedt district in 1926. Most of the local people were farmers. After 1945 the Lichstedt estate was expropriated and given to resettlers from the lost eastern regions of Germany and to local farmers with little land, from 1953 onwards it was farmed cooperatively from the nationally owned Groschwitz estate . The former manor house was demolished. After the fall of the Wall, farmers regrouped and found new ways of managing their land and inventory.
